This shy, dirt scratching, bug eating, reluctant flyer, has another life. In season, on dirt mound, veiled by his gauze-like tail, the Superb Lyrebird will dance his way through a concert of song, bird impersonations, and mimicked mechanical sounds. The consenting hen gets to construct the nest, lay the egg and raise the offspring, alone. Until the next year when they each will start over.
